Hurry, Hurry, Hurry!

I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed "The Giver," and want you all to hurry with reading it, so we can begin to discuss it. I'm anxious to read your comments. I read the first 8 chapters last night.

  1. I'm gonna try to find a copy on eBay or Amazon. I've never read this one, don't think I've even heard of it before.

  2. Thank you Mom, I appreciate your motivating post. I had been worried that maybe people would not want to read it because it is a children's book. But it is really an amazing book for any age. I am glad you are enjoying reading it again. I love this book. It is one of my all time favorite's. Love you Mom, ~Heidi~

  4. Oh my heart, I had completely forgotten we were supposed to be reading. (Ironic, since I am busy trying to re-read my possible selection for our June reading.) I'll pick up a copy this weekend. Thanks Johanna & Heidi for reminding me!! I'm excited to read this at last. (Dad, do you need/want a copy? I can easily pick up a copy for you when I get mine this weekend. Lemme know!)Love, Autumn

  6. Okay, finally got, read it, liked it. It was a very fast read, did it on a Sunday (they're quieter here than at your home, I suspect). It wasn't quite what I had expected, but then I'm not exactly sure WHAT I expected. I was sad through most of it, such an unhappy existance. The way his friend was teased about saying a wrong word, teased until he quit speaking for a while, really disturbed me. Maybe I can relate too much.
I do choose to believe that he and the baby did make it to a bood place, ALIVE.
